  1. 800 WLights, phones, router, a CPAP
  2. 2,200 WFridge, freezer and the essentials
  3. 4,000 WFurnace blower, sump pump or a window AC
  4. 7,500 WWell pump or a small central AC
  5. 18,000 WWhole home with central air

7,600 W running, 9,500 W surge — sustains the well pump or a small central AC tier and everything below it.

Best forHomeowners who want an inverter that can feed a 50A transfer switch and run a furnace and well pump, for about 60 percent less than the Honda EU7000iS.

DuroMax's near-whole-house inverter gives you 240V and a 50A outlet without paying Honda EU7000iS money. It makes 7,600 running watts on gasoline and 7,200 on propane, enough for a furnace, a well pump, a fridge, a freezer and a window air conditioner at once, with a 50A port that feeds a transfer switch or an RV. The runtime, the 5-year warranty, the electric and remote start, and the way it idles down at light load all draw praise. Weight is the first complaint, since at 216 lbs it needs the wheel kit and a ramp, and noise is the second: the 61 dB figure is taken at 25% load, and owners say it is much louder at full output. It uses the DuroMax in-house engine rather than a Honda or Yamaha, and long-term durability reports are thinner than for the Japanese engines. DuroMax lists it at $2,699 and sells it for $1,999.
