Best forCampers and small-outage households who want a propane-capable 2 kW inverter at half the price of a Honda EU2200i.

The small DuroMax is one of the few 2 kW inverters that runs on propane. It makes 1,800 running watts on gasoline and 1,700 on propane, and the propane runtime is the headline: 38 hours at a quarter load on a 20 lb tank, which is a long stretch for a fridge, router and lights in an outage, and propane does not go stale in storage. Owners also mention the 30A L5-30 outlet, USB-C port and the included parallel cable. The complaints are the 50 lb weight for a 2 kW unit, the plastic 4.5 inch wheels, which are small, and noise: the 52 dB is a light-load figure, and owners find it louder than Honda's under real load. It uses DuroMax's in-house engine, not a Honda or Yamaha, and costs about half as much as either. DuroMax lists it at $799 and charges $649.
