Enphase IQ Battery 10C

~$5,772approx. list price

  1. 800 WLights, phones, router, a CPAP
  2. 2,200 WFridge, freezer and the essentials
  3. 4,000 WFurnace blower, sump pump or a window AC
  4. 7,500 WWell pump or a small central AC
  5. 18,000 WWhole home with central air

7,080 W running, 14,160 W surge — sustains the furnace blower, sump pump or a window AC tier and everything below it.

Best forHomes with Enphase microinverter solar, or an AC-coupled retrofit, that want modular capacity and a long warranty rather than the highest single-unit output.

Installers now quote Enphase's fourth-generation battery ahead of the older IQ Battery 5P. Each 10C holds 10 kWh of LFP and carries its own neutral-forming microinverters, so a single unit can island a house without a separate hybrid inverter, and it can be stacked to 80 kWh. Continuous output is 7.08 kW with a 14.16 kW peak, which is a real step up from the 5P but still well short of a Powerwall 3 on the amps a central air conditioner draws at start. It is AC-coupled, which makes it the easy retrofit onto an existing solar array of any brand, though owners say it only feels seamless inside an all-Enphase system. The unit is heavy at 317 lb installed. Enphase publishes no retail price; $5,772 is a distributor's hardware price, and installed quotes with a controller and labor run roughly $13,000.

At a glance

Strengths

  • +Built-in microinverters let one unit run backup without a separate inverter
  • +Modular: stack up to 80 kWh and add units as budget allows
  • +15-year warranty is the longest of the major brands
  • +Fan-free, LFP chemistry with no cobalt
  • +AC coupling makes it a straightforward retrofit to existing solar

At a glance

Drawbacks

  • −7.08 kW continuous trails the Powerwall 3's 11.5 kW, so big loads need several units
  • −317 lb installed weight needs a floor pedestal or a strong wall
  • −Installed cost with a controller and labor runs roughly $13,000, more than double the hardware price
